The bill would have required one assistant for every eight nursing home residents during the day, one per every 10 residents during the late day shift and one per 16 residents overnight, according to the report.
The nursing assistant’s union supported the bill, while nursing home operators opposed it. Gov. Christie did not issue an explanation for his veto, according to the report.
