SIHF Healthcare opens health center with Illinois school district

A southern Illinois healthcare organization is partnering with a local school district to provide services to students and educators, according to a Sept. 13 news release.

Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation (SIHF) Healthcare and Collinsville Community Unit School District 10 partnered to establish a school-based health center at Collinsville Middle School. The new SIHF Healthcare health center will offer school and sports physicals and immunizations, treat basic health conditions, and issue referrals for behavioral health services.

Operations Director for Mobile and School-Based Services at SIHF Healthcare Bryan Ferrell said they look forward to serving the students and teachers.

"Students will be seen regardless of their insurance status, so no student will be turned away from receiving care," said Mr. Ferrell

Director of Special Education Alison Underwood said this is a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to be seen quickly and address health concerns while returning to school.

"This collaborative relationship bridges the gap in identifying students needing physicals, immunizations or medical treatment that starts with our Illinois State Board of Education Award of Excellence winning Collinsville Health Staff referring students in need to the comprehensive SIHF team," said Ms. Underwood.

The health center is located in the Collinsville Middle School. However, students, teachers, and staff from any district building can be seen by the SIHF Healthcare provider.
