Saint Luke's Health System to acquire 6 clinics from Mosaic: 5 things to know

Kansas City, Mo.-based Saint Luke's Health System is expanding its Kansas City footprint through the acquisition of six area clinics from St. Joseph, Mo.-based Mosaic Life Care. 

Here are five things to know.

1. St. Luke's will acquire Mosaic's Highland Plaza, Parkville, Platte City, Smithville, Burlington and Shoal Creek clinic locations, including physicians and office staff. However, Mosaic's Excelsior Springs and Kearney clinic locations will not be affected.

2. The acquisition will allow Saint Luke's "to immediately expand and improve access to Saint Luke’s care for families in the Northland." Melinda Estes, MD, president and CEO of Saint Luke's, said in a statement.

3. For Mosaic, the acquisition is an opportunity to continue growth efforts at the St. Joseph campus, including expansion and relocation of the intensive care unit and focusing more on cancer care and women's health, the statement reads.

4. The acquisition is expected to be completed by the end of April next year.

5. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
