Saint Anthony Hospital to partner with the UChicago Medicine: 4 things to know

Chicago-based Saint Anthony Hospital declared its intent to partner with the University of Chicago Medicine for its obstetrics and pediatrics service lines.

Here are four things to know about the partnership.

1. Chairman for the Department of Pediatrics and Hospital-Wide Strategic Partnerships at Saint Anthony Romeen Lavani, MD, said the hospital "serves some of the most challenged populations in Chicago… The new partnership means [Saint Anthony's] can collaborate in a meaningful manner, and teach the next generation of providers how to care for these communities."

2. SaintAnthonyHospital cares for more than 100,000 patients and delivers nearly 2,000 babies each year.

3. Through the partnership, mothers and children in the community will have access to maternal-fetal medicine and the expertise provided by UChicago Medicine physicians.

4. Children will have access to pediatric subspecialties, such as endocrinology, cardiology and pulmonology to threat illnesses like asthma and diabetes.
