Nearly a dozen hospital mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, affiliations and partnerships were unwound or called off throughout 2022.

Camden, N.J.-based Cooper University Health Care and Cape Regional Health System in Cape May Court House, N.J., have signed a letter of intent to merge into a two-hospital system with revenue exceeding $2.2 billion a year.

San Angelo, Texas-based Shannon Medical Center has joined the Mayo Clinic Care Network, a global group of independent care systems that can tap into the knowledge and medical expertise of Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic.

At a Dec. 8 public hearing, New Orleans-based LCMC Health officials made their case to the office of the Louisiana Attorney General for the system's planned acquisition of three Tulane University hospitals in Baton Rouge, La., nola.com reported Dec. 8. 

The University of Michigan Health's board of regents on Dec. 8 approved a proposed agreement that would see it acquire Lansing, Mich.-based Sparrow Health System to become a $7 billion-health system with more than 200 sites of care.

New Orleans-based Ochsner Health, a 47-hospital system with more than 36,000 employees, has acquired Diamondhead (Miss.) Urgent Care, NBC affiliate WXXV reported Dec. 7.
