Orleans Community Health ends 3-year affiliation with Catholic Health

Medina, N.Y.-based Orleans Community Health ended its three-year affiliation with Buffalo, N.Y.-based Catholic Health Oct. 12, Catholic Health officials said in an emailed press release.

The health systems did not elect to renew the agreement due to changes in healthcare delivery and OCH officials' desire to establish a more formal relationship with an unidentified neighboring health system, according to the press release.

"While we benefitted from our affiliation with Catholic Health and the expertise and support they brought to our organization, we need to take the next step in securing a more formal alignment with a regional partner," said Wendy Jacobson, president and CEO of Orleans Community Health.

"Operating a small, community hospital in today's healthcare environment is extremely challenging, and Orleans Community Health is working hard to meet those challenges," said Joe McDonald, president and CEO of Catholic Health. "While we chose not to pursue a more active affiliation, we are proud of the work we did together over the past three years, and the progress that we made in a number of areas."
