Ochsner Health System Reaches Deal to Manage Hancock Medical Center

Staff -

The board of trustees for Hancock Medical Center in Bay St. Louis, Miss., has agreed to a two-year management agreement with Ochsner Health System in New Orleans.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. In September, the Hancock County board of supervisors approved Ochsner to manage the operations of Hancock Medical Center for a 90-day probationary period. Previously, Quorum Health Resources, a hospital management subsidiary of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems, managed the 47-bed, county-owned hospital.

Polly Davenport, CEO of Ochsner North Shore Region in Slidell, La., will also serve as CEO of Hancock Medical Center.

"With the recently completed reconstructed facility and a dedicated staff of medical professionals, we believe Hancock Medical is a model community hospital for the people it enthusiastically serves," Ms. Davenport said in a statement.

Hancock Medical Center is Ochsner's first hospital in Mississippi.
