Auburn (N.Y.) Community Hospital is partnering with Syracuse, N.Y.-based St. Joseph's Health and University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center to expand access to care, according to Syracuse.com.

The partnership with the larger systems will provide patients with access to specialty services near home. Under the partnership, ACH will continue to operate as an independent hospital with its own board of directors.

"As our healthcare system evolves, there is a growing need for us to work with larger health systems to improve access to specialty services right here in Cayuga County," Scott Berlucchi, CEO of Auburn, told Syracuse.com.

ACH officials say the partnership will help recruit physicians, improve quality of care, and increase patient access and safety.
