St. Joseph Medical Center in Towson, Md., has put out a call for a "strategic relationship" to a group of Maryland healthcare organizations, according to a Baltimore Business Journal report.
The hospital plans to begin evaluating proposals within the next six to 12 months. Hospital officials have said a strategic partner is vital to St. Joseph to achieve financial stability and better serve patients.
St. Joseph's search for a partner is beginning a little less than a year after the hospital agreed to pay a $22 million settlement over alleged unnecessary stent procedures. The allegations also brought on numerous malpractice suits from patients who allegedly received unnecessary stent implants from a formerly-employed physician.
