Fort Myers, Fla.-based Lee Health is in talks to become the sole healthcare provider for Babcock Ranch, a 17,000-acre community under development in southwest Florida, according to the News-Press.
Under the proposed agreement, Lee Health would open and begin operating a family practice clinic, rehabilitation facility and wellness center — all located in the center of the town — in March.
Babcock Ranch would provide the health system with roughly $1.4 million in financial incentives during a five-year period as part of the agreement, the report states.
The deal is subject to approval by Lee Health's governing board. Officials said they expect the board to discuss the proposal during the coming weeks, according to the report.
