Hearing on FTC's Challenge of Rockford Health, OSF Merger Begins

Staff -
A judge in the Northern District of Illinois today began to hear arguments in the Federal Trade Commission's challenge of Peoria, Ill-based OSF Healthcare's acquisition of Rockford (Ill.) Health, according to a Rockford Register Star report.

The FTC has requested a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction of the deal, arguing the transaction would reduce competition in the Rockford area.

A federal hearing on the challenge is scheduled in April, and a preliminary injunction could help the FTC's case, according to the report.

The two systems announced their plan to affiliate in February of last year.
