Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America has completed the sale of Palmyra Medical Center in Albany, Ga., to the Hospital Authority of Albany-Dougherty County, according to an HCA news release.

The hospital was sold for roughly $198 million. The sale had been pending since Dec. 2010.

The transaction follows an FTC ruling this week that Phoebe Putney Health System, which is located in Albany and operated under the Hospital Authority of Albany-Dougherty, could acquire Palmyra. The FTC said such a transaction was protected by Georgia's Hospital Authorities Law.
