FTC, Nevada AG Examine Renown Health's Partnerships With Cardiovascular Groups

The Nevada Attorney General's Office and Federal Trade Commission have launched an inquiry on Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health to examine the four-hospital system's partnerships with cardiovascular groups, according to a Reno Gazette-Journal report.

Central to the inquiry are partnerships through Renown's Institute for Vascular Health and cardiovascular physician groups in Northern Nevada. Included is an alliance between Renown and Sierra Nevada Cardiology Associates, which has 15 cardiologists. Renown was also finalizing a similar partnership with Reno Heart physicians, which has 17 cardiologists.

A Renown spokesperson said interest from the AG and FTC is not unexpected given the size of the transaction. The system is cooperating and providing the information requested, according the report.
