Downey Regional Collaborates With PIH Health to Manage Daily Operations

Staff -

Downey Regional Medical Center, based in Downey, Calif., announced that it has entered into an agreement with Whittier, Calif.-based PIH Health to manage its day-to-day operations.

Downey Regional, a 90-bed facility, initially applied in April for permission from California's attorney general to merge with PIH, a 548-bed facility affiliated with more than 150 physicians and formerly known as Presbyterian Intercommunity Hospital. The application is currently under review.

"Collaboration is an important element in the new era of healthcare reform, both locally and nationally," said James Ball, chairman of the DRMC Board, in a news release. "The expert support of PIH Health ensures the high standards of quality and safety that residents of the Downey community have counted on for more than 90 years."
