Dearborn County Hospital, TriHealth to affiliate: 7 things to know

Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg, Ind., plans to affiliate with Cincinnati-based TriHealth.

Here are seven things to know about the affiliation.

1. It will not involve the exchange of money or assets.

2. The affiliation will not affect the ownership of DCH, its governance, administration or management, according to Carl Petty, chairman of the DCH Board of Trustees. It also will not affect DCH Physician Partners, hospital-owned physician practices, DCH Physician Partners.

3. DCH plans to remain independent.

4. Primary objectives established by DCH for the affiliation are as follows, according to Roger Howard, DCH President and CEO.

  • Build on to the hospital's foundation of patient services through enhanced protocols
  • New and/or expanded programs and opportunities for care
  • Advanced staff and physician continuing education

5. In a news release, Mr. Howard said the affiliation also will help improve patient access to primary care physicians, as well as a wider variety of on-site physician specialists and subspecialists.

6. The announcement followed a 10 month process, initiated by DCH, to select a health system or hospital affiliate in the Greater Cincinnati area.

7. The affiliation will be finalized over the next few months.
