California's Corcoran Hospital Forms Group to Further Adventist Merger Talks

Corcoran (Calif.) District Hospital is hoping to further merger discussions with Adventist Health by developing a special work group to "hammer out" the details of its final affiliation agreement, according to a Hanford Sentinel report.

Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist and Corcoran, a financially troubled public hospital, agreed to engage in merger talks in July. Adventist will also form a group to work with Corcoran, according to the report, although the transaction groups have yet to meet. Both parties are currently conducting research on one another.

Adventist and Corcoran have said they are considering a wide variety of options, from a management agreement to an acquisition. It is still unclear whether a full private takeover is likely.

Corcoran board members say failure to partner will likely lead to the hospital's closure, according to the report.
