The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general partnerships took place or were announced in the February.

1. Dartmouth-Hitchcock, Elliot Health System cease affiliation talks
Officials from Lebanon, N.H.-based Dartmouth-Hitchcock and Manchester, N.H.-based Elliot Health System ceased plans to embark on a formal affiliation.

2. Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital partners with Fairview Health Services
Grand Rapids, Minn.-based Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital CEO Mike Youso said changes in the industry drove the hospital to partner with Minneapolis-based Fairview Health Services.

3. Mercy Hospital St. Louis, Saint Francis Medical Center team up for pediatric care
Mercy Hospital St. Louis and Cape Girardeau, Mo.-based Saint Francis Medical Center paired up to offer specialty pediatric gastroenterology services to patients in the Cape Girardeau area.

4. Wellmont, MSHA forge ahead with merger request
Nearly a year after declaring their intent to merge, Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance and Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health officials said they will continue to fight for their proposed merger.

5. 2 HCA-owned hospitals rebrand as part of Good Samaritan Health System
Regional Medical Center of San Jose (Calif.) and San Jose, Calif.-based Good Samaritan Hospital, both owned by Nashville, Tenn.-based Hospital Corporation of America, joined the rebranded Good Samaritan Health System.

6. Boston Medical Center to operate emergency services at local mental health center
State officials approved Boston Medical Center's bid to operate emergency services at Fall River, Mass.-based Dr. John C. Corrigan Mental Health Center beginning in May.

7. Nationwide Children's Hospital, OhioHealth partner to improve ED services
Columbus, Ohio-based Nationwide Children's Hospital and OhioHealth, also in Columbus, partnered to offer two separate full service emergency departments at the Lewis Center Close to Home Center in Delaware, Ohio.

8. Fulton County Medical Center, Tri-State Community Health Center to partner
McConnellsburg, Pa.-based Fulton County Medical Center and Hancock, Md.-based Tri-State Community Health Center formed a partnership to hire additional physicians and staff at both institutions.

9. St. Anthony's Medical Center inks affiliate agreement with Mercy Hospital St. Louis
St. Louis-based St. Anthony's Medical Center entered into a definitive affiliation agreement with Mercy Hospital St. Louis. 

10. UnitedHealth Group commences purchase of outstanding shares in Surgical Care Affiliates
Minnetonka, Minn.-based UnitedHealth Group commenced its offer to purchase all outstanding shares of Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates. 

11. Billings Clinic formalizes alliance with Children's Hospital Colorado
The Billings (Mont.) Clinic and Aurora-based Children's Hospital Colorado formalized a care alliance to provide children and families visiting both institutions the highest level of coordinated medical care. 

12. Piedmont taking over clinics in 27 Atlanta-area Walgreens stores
Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare will begin operating and providing clinical services at retail clinics inside 27 Walgreens stores in the Atlanta area in August.

13. Tenet buys out landlord at Palm Beach Garden Medical Center for $43M
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare paid $43.43 million to buy out its landlord at Palm Beach (Fla.) Gardens Medical Center, a 199-bed hospital.

14. St. Vincent Healthcare and West Park Hospital alter cancer care collaboration
West Park Hospital in Cody, Wyo., and Billings, Mont.-based St. Vincent Healthcare amended their previous cancer care collaboration.

15. LabCorp to acquire Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories
Burlington, N.C.-based Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings entered into a definitive agreement to acquire full ownership of Spokane, Wash.-based Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories, which is jointly owned by Renton, Wash.-based Providence Health & Services and Englewood, Colo.-based Catholic Health Initiatives.

16. Blessing Health System, Hannibal Clinic ink affiliation agreement
Quincy, Ill.-based Blessing Health System and Hannibal (Mo.) Clinic signed an affiliation agreement to enhance clinical programs and services to residents in the area.

17. Yale New Haven Health, PhysicianOne Urgent Care collaborate to expand services
Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health and Southbury, Conn.-based PhysicianOne Urgent Care formed a partnership to expand care services throughout Connecticut and Westchester County, N.Y.

18. Bankrupt North Philadelphia Health System to sell shuttered hospital
North Philadelphia Health System, which filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Dec. 30, inked a deal to sell St. Joseph's Hospital in Philadelphia, which closed in March 2016.

19. Mayo Clinic, CHOP collaborate to research rare congenital heart defect
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic's Todd and Karen Wanek Family Program for Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia partnered to research hypoplastic left heart syndrome, a rare and complex congenital heart condition.

20. Unity Medical Center to partner with Concord Medical Group
Manchester, Tenn.-based Unity Medical Center inked a partnership agreement with Knoxville, Tenn.-based Concord Medical Group.

21. Union Hospital, IU Health collaborate to improve ED services
Terre Haute, Ind.-based Union Hospital and Indianapolis-based University of Indiana Health partnered to improve accessibility to local, highly skilled emergency room physicians.

22. Shields Health Solutions expands 5-year partnership with Fairview Health Services
Quincy, Mass.-based Shields Health Solutions expanded its five-year partnership with Minneapolis-based integrated health system Fairview Health Services.

23. Indiana hospital partners with The Milk Bank to open breast milk collection site
Jasper, Ind.-based Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center partnered with The Milk Bank, a nonprofit, to open one of the first breast milk collection sites in the area.

24. PeaceHealth's new lab contract may affect 500 jobs​
 Madison, N.J.-based Quest Diagnostics will assume management responsibilities for 11 PeaceHealth outreach laboratory services operations under an agreement officials expect to complete in the second quarter of 2017. If approved, the acquisition will lay off nearly 500 employees at the Vancouver, Wash.-based health system.

25. Allina Health, HealthPartners expand existing alliance
Minneapolis-based Allina Health extended its health insurance partnership with Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners.

26. Duke Health, WakeMed collaborate on heart health services
Durham, N.C.-based Duke Health and Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed Health & Hospitals signed an agreement to integrate their heart programs into a single heart service, effective March 1.

27. CHS to sell 8 hospitals to Steward Health Care
Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems signed a definitive agreement to sell eight hospitals in Florida, Ohio and Pennsylvania to Boston-based Steward Health Care.

28. Sitka Community Hospital abandons JV talks, looks to merge with SEARHC
The Sitka (Alaska) Community Hospital board scrapped plans for the hospital to engage in a joint venture with the Southeast Alaska Regional Health Consortium and instead discussed a possible merger between the two organizations.

29. Florida startup signs LOI to purchase Sonoma West Medical Center
The Sebastopol, Calif.-based Sonoma West Medical Center board approved a Florida-based startup's letter of intent to purchase the financially struggling medical center.

30. University of Miami Health System partners with 500-member physician group
The University of Miami (Fla.) Health System will collaborate with Miami-based VitalMD Group Holdings, a 500-member physician network, to advance women's oncology services in the area.

31. Mednax acquires Texas multispecialty practice
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Mednax acquired Spring, Texas-based Newborn Intensive Care Specialists, a multispecialty physician group practice.

32. Mon Health acquires family practice as system expansion continues
Wedgewood Family Practice and Psychiatry Associates completed an agreement to join Morgantown, W.Va.-based Mon Health System.

33. Blackstone closes $6.1B deal to acquire TeamHealth
New York City-based global asset manager Blackstone successfully closed its acquisition of Knoxville, Tenn.-based TeamHealth Holdings, a physician services organization. 

34. Nemours Children's expands partnership with Publix Pharmacy
Wilmington, Del.-based Nemours Children's Health System expanded its partnership with Publix Pharmacy. 

35. Physician practice fully integrated into Berkshire Health System, rebrands
North Adams, Mass.-based Williamstown Medical Associates successfully completed its integration into Pittsfield, Mass.-based Berkshire Medical Center, which acquired the physician practice in 2013.

36. Accumen partners with Deaconess Health System on blood management program
Evansville, Ind.-based Deaconess Health System partnered with Accumen on a multiyear agreement to implement a comprehensive patient blood management program. 

37. Mission Health, UNC Asheville expand partnership
Asheville, N.C.-based Mission Health System and the University of North Carolina Asheville declared their intent to expand their existing partnership.

38. Berkshire Health System affiliates with local orthopedic practice
Pittsfield, Mass.-based Berkshire Health System completed an affiliation agreement with Berkshire Orthopaedic Associates, also in Pittsfield.

39. Appalachian Regional Healthcare partners with nursing college
Hazard, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare declared its intent to partner with the Gallen College of Nursing-Louisville in Kentucky on an associate degree in nursing program.

40. State approves merger of 2 UMass hospitals
The Massachusetts Public Health Council approved Worcester-based UMass Memorial Health Care's plan to merge two of its hospitals: Leominster, Mass.-based HealthAlliance Hospital and Clinton (Mass.) Hospital.

41. University Hospitals to join regional trauma network including Cleveland Clinic, MetroHealth
University Hospitals, the Cleveland Clinic and MetroHealth — all in Cleveland —formed the regional Northern Ohio Trauma System network.

42. LCMC Health acquires Fairway Medical Center
New Orleans-based LCMC Health, along with several local specialty surgeons, jointly purchased Fairway Medical Center, a surgical hospital in Covington, La.

43. Petaluma Valley Hospital gets bidding interest from 3 hospital operators
Three hospital operators expressed interest in managing Petaluma (Calif.) Valley Hospital.

44. University of Minnesota, Fairview Health Services intend to strike short-term partnership
Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota and Fairview Health Services, also in Minneapolis, inked a short-term partnership agreement this summer to better align both institutions' research and clinical care initiatives. The organizations' five-year M Health agreement will auto-renew in June 2018 unless either party opts out by June 1, 2017.

45. Grand View Health, CMS, others form integrated delivery network
Sellersville, Pa.-based Grand View Health, several local primary care offices and a number of state Medicaid agencies, commercial health plans, self-insured businesses and primary care practices formed an integrated delivery network to provide coordinated, high quality care at lower costs.

46. Walgreens, Rite Aid extend merger agreement, slash deal by $2B
Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens Boots Alliance and Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid amended and extended their previous merger agreement under which Walgreens would acquire all outstanding shares of Rite Aid.

47. Beth Israel Deaconess, Lahey Health green light merger negotiations
Boston-based Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health signed a letter of intent to merge after years of on-again, off-again negotiations.

48. Alameda Health System, Conifer Health partner on management solutions
Oakland, Calif.-based Alameda Health System partnered with Frisco, Texas-based Conifer Health Solutions to provide management and consulting services to better serve the residents of AlamedaCounty. 

49. Massachusetts Eye and Ear declares plans to join Partners HealthCare
Boston-based Massachusetts Eye and Ear will join Partners HealthCare in Boston.

50. Mednax acquires Tennessee radiology practice
Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based Mednax acquired Nashville, Tenn.-based Radiology Alliance, one of the largest private practice radiology groups in the Tennessee.

51. Prime Healthcare Foundation signs LOI to purchase Texas hospital
Prime Healthcare Foundation, the nonprofit affiliate of Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services, and Mission (Texas) Regional Medical Center signed a non-binding letter of intent for Prime Healthcare Foundation to purchase the medical center.

52. Mount Sinai, actors guild join forces on health center for NY arts community
New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System and The Actors Fund collaborated on a health center exclusively for members of the performing arts and entertainment industry in New York City.

53. Vizion Health acquires Oklahoma hospital
Charlotte, N.C.-based Vizion Health acquired Miami, Okla.-based Willow Crest Hospital, a 50-bed acute care psychiatric hospital.

54. Cheyenne Regional Medical Center declares intent to affiliate
The board of trustees of Cheyenne (Wyo.) Regional Medical Center unanimously voted Feb. 3 to advise the county board of commissioners to release a formal proposal to larger healthcare systems notifying them of the medical center's intent to form an affiliation.

55. Edward-Elmhurst Health acquires Illinois family medicine practice
Naperville, Ill.-based Edward-Elmhurst Health acquired Sycamore, Ill.-based Kishwaukee Medical Associates. The partnership was effective Jan. 1. 

56. Global Medical REIT Q1 acquisitions, contracts total $103.4M
Global Medical REIT, a Bethesda, Md.-based company engaged in the acquisition and leasing of healthcare facilities, closed two acquisitions during the first quarter of 2017 and executed five purchase contracts.

57. UVA, Norfolk children's hospital collaborate to provide more efficient cardiac care
The University of Virginia Children's Hospital in Charlottesville and Norfolk, Va.-based Children's Hospital of the King's Daughters partnered to improve the quality of care for babies born with complex congenital heart conditions.

58. Northeast Georgia Health System signs LOI to affiliate with Habersham Medical Center
Gainesville-based Northeast Georgia Health System signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Demorest, Ga.-based Habersham Medical Center. 

59. 2 Pennsylvania hospitals team up to meet rising demand for behavioral health services
Meadowbrook, Pa.-based Holy Redeemer Health System and the Philmont Guidance Center, with three Pennsylvania locations in Huntingdon Valley, Erdenheim and Doylestown, partnered to expand residents' access to behavioral health services in the area.

60. Genesis HealthCare, Kindred Healthcare form strategic clinical collaboration
Kennett Square, Pa.-based Genesis HealthCare and Louisville, Ky.-based Kindred Healthcare declared their intent to form a strategic clinical collaboration to develop and implement healthcare initiatives to improve quality of care, patient safety and efficiency.

61. Alecto Healthcare Services to acquire 2 Ohio hospitals
Irvine, Calif.-based Alecto Healthcare Services reached a joint agreement with Wheeling, W.Va.-based Ohio Valley Health Services and Education to purchase Ohio Valley Medical Center, also in Wheeling, and Martins Ferry-based East Ohio Regional Hospital.

62. Christus Health acquires Good Shepherd Health System
Irving, Texas-based Christus Health signed an agreement to acquire Longview, Texas-based Good Shepherd Health System. 

63. Orlando Health System to affiliate with Lakeland Regional Health
Orlando (Fla.) Health System signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health System, effective Oct. 1.

64. Comvest acquires Florida medical group
Investment firm Comvest Partners acquired Miami Lakes, Fla.-based Interamerican Medical Center Group, a managed services organization that provides specialty services to Medicare, Medicaid and commercial policyholders.

65. Southern Cancer Center joins US Oncology Network
Mobile, Ala.-based Southern Cancer Center joined The U.S. Oncology Network, a network of independent physician practices dedicated to providing quality cancer care and supported by McKesson Specialty Health.

66. San Antonio Regional Hospital, City of Hope partner to expand cancer care services
Upland, Calif.-based San Antonio Regional Hospital and Duarte, Calif.-based research, cancer and diabetes treatment center City of Hope signed an affiliation agreement to expand cancer care services to residents in the community.

67. Kaiser Permanente completes $1.8B acquisition of Group Health
Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente completed its $1.8 billion acquisition of Seattle-based health plan Group Health Cooperative. 

68. State approves sale of CHS-owned NJ hospital to Prime Healthcare
State officials unanimously voted to recommend the sale of The Memorial Hospital of Salem (N.J.) County to Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare Services.

69. Saint Francis signs definitive agreement to purchase Eastar Health
Tulsa, Okla.-based Saint Francis Health System signed a definitive agreement to purchase Muskogee, Okla.-based Eastar Health. 

70. Centura Hospital forms care alliance with Children's Hospital of Colorado
Centennial, Colo.-based Centura Health formed a care alliance with Aurora-based Children's Hospital of Colorado.

71. UW Medicine, medical association partner to keep local clinic open
Seattle-based University of Washington Medicine and the Catherine Washburn Medical Association, which runs Lopez Island, Wash.-based Lopez Medical Clinic, embarked on a partnership agreement.

72. Baptist Health South Florida finalizes merger deal
Coral Gables-based Baptist Health South Florida formalized its merger agreement with Marathon, Fla.-based Fishermen's Community Hospital, effective June 30.

73. Pineville Community Hospital inches closer to deal with Americore Health
Pineville Community Hospital declared its intent to continue negotiations with Americore Health. 

74. Westchester Health Associates joins Northwell Health
After signing a letter of intent in 2015 and entering into exclusive negotiations, Westchester (N.Y.) Health Associates, a full-service medical group, became part of New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health.
