4 things to know about St. Joseph Health's acquisition of Medical Specialties Managers

Kelly Gooch -

Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health acquired Medical Specialties Managers, a physician practice organization based in Orange, Calif.

Here are four things to know.

1. MSM offers revenue cycle management, practice management, consultation and physician support services, according to a news release.

2. SJH noted the MSM acquisition will allow the health system to expand its support services to independent physicians. SJH already has various medical groups and affiliated physician networks through its statewide physician practice organization, St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare, the release states.

3. With the MSM acquisition, the company will join the SJH network, but MSM will keep its name and continue operating from Orange, according to SJH.

4. "Through this new partnership with MSM, we're able to expand our services and provide support to an additional 250 physicians throughout California," Kevin Manemann, president and CEO of St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare, said in the release. "By continuing to grow our reach in the community, our organization can further integrate data support systems as we strive to create an innovative patient experience and provide the highest quality care to our patients and their families."
