Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems is working with advisers to explore a variety of options with financial sponsors, including the possible sale of its business.
2. Apollo Global reportedly in talks to acquire CHS' assets
Private equity firm Apollo Global Management is reportedly in discussions to acquire the assets of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
3. Fairfield Hospital District approves management agreement to partner with Community Hospital Consulting
The Fairfield (Texas) Hospital District board approved a management agreement with Plano, Texas-based Community Hospital Consulting, the management and consulting arm of the Community Hospital Corporation.
4. Prospect completes $400M purchase of 6 Pennsylvania, New Jersey hospitals
Los Angeles-based Prospect Medical Holdings finalized the acquisition of six healthcare facilities in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, totaling nearly $400 million.
5. St. Lawrence Health Systems, Adirondack Health Institute announce partnership
Potsdam, N.Y.-based St. Lawrence Health System officials signed an agreement to partner with GlenFalls, N.Y.-based Adirondack Health Institute to improve residents' access to care.
6. Billings Clinic, Central Montana Medical Center explore potential partnership
Billings (Mont.) Clinic and Lewistown-based Central Montana Medical Center officials signed a non-binding letter of intent to explore a formal partnership.
7. Lahey Health signs partnership with Boston Bruins hockey team
Burlington, Mass.-based Lahey Health signed a five-year contract with the Boston Bruins hockey team. The partnership will make Lahey the official healthcare partner of the team.
8. Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center approves purchase of former nursing home facility
President and CEO of Patchogue, N.Y.-based Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center Richard Margulis officially signed the contract to purchase the property belonging to the former Yaphank, N.Y.-based John J. Foley Skilled Nursing Home Facility.
9. Children's Mercy, Olathe Medical Center partner on pediatric facility
Kansas City, Mo.-based Children's Mercy Hospital and Olathe (Kan.) Medical Center will partner to provide pediatric urgent care and specialty services at a future facility slated for construction near Olathe's existing campus.
10. MD Anderson to affiliate with Deaconess Health System
Houston-based MD Anderson Cancer Network plans to affiliate with Evansville, Ind.-based Deaconess Health System. Officials said the partnership will give Deaconess Health physicians access to better resources.
11. Allergan to acquire Tobira Therapeutics for $1.7B
Dublin, Ireland-based Allergan will purchase San Francisco-based liver disease treatment maker Tobira Therapeutics for as much as $1.7 billion, or 19 times Tobira's previous market value.
12. Rutgers Cancer Institute partners with University Hospital to expand care
New Brunswick, N.J.-based Rutgers Cancer Institute will partner with Newark, N.J.-based University Hospital to expand cancer care services in Essex County, which maintains one of the highest cancer death rates in the state.
13. WKU withdraws Medical Center deal, explores other partners
Following a protest filed by a local clinic, Bowling Green-based Western Kentucky University terminated its contract with The Medical Center, also in Bowling Green, and will begin accepting bids for a series of upcoming projects.
14. Genesis Healthcare pulls objects to sale of Coshocton Hospital
Lake Forest, Calif.-based Genesis Healthcare officials rescinded their objection to the sale of Coshocton (Ohio) Hospital to Ontario, Calif.-based Prime Healthcare on Sept. 20 after the hospital and the health system came to a mutual agreement.
15. Louisiana settles new partnership agreement with University Medical Center
New Orleans-based University Medical Center and the state of Louisiana reached an agreement to grant the hospital full funding for its charity care services.
16. UChicago Medicine's Children's Hospital forms partnership with Jollibee restaurant
Executives at Skokie, Ill.-based Jollibee, a Filipino restaurant, debuted plans to partner with the University of Chicago Medicine Comer Children's Hospital.

Boston-based Partners HealthCare received state approval to acquire Medford, Mass.-based Hallmark Health without an intensive state review.

Cumberland-based Western Maryland Health System is seeking partners for a potential clinical affiliation — and three different health systems have come calling.
19. Louisiana moves to oust LSU hospital operator
The Louisiana state government made a motion to terminate its management contract with Shreveport, La.-based Biomedical Research Foundation of Northwest Louisiana, which operates LouisianaStateUniversity's hospitals in Shreveport and Monroe, after the foundation refused to accept the terms of the renegotiated contract.
