The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions and general partnerships took place or were announced in the past week.

1. AU Health, Philips roll out advanced life support monitors
Augusta (Ga.) University Health unveiled a series of advanced life support monitors and defibrillators as part of its alliance with Amsterdam-based healthcare technology company Philips.

2. UMass Memorial Health System considers merging Leominster and Clinton campuses
Worcester-based University of Massachusetts Memorial Health Care is eyeing a potential merger of two of its hospitals.

3. Scripps, MD Anderson ink affiliation for comprehensive cancer care program in San Diego
San Diego-based Scripps Health and Houston-based The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center partnered to create the Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center, a comprehensive and clinically integrated cancer program in San Diego.

4. HealthSouth, Tidelands Health announce joint venture
Birmingham, Ala.-based HealthSouth and Georgetown, S.C.-based Tidelands Health partnered in a joint venture to own and operate Tideland's existing 29 bed inpatient rehabilitation hospital at its Murrells Inlet, S.C.-based Tidelands Waccamaw Community Hospital.

5. Wellmont-MSHA merger application moves forward
The Southwest Virginia Health Authority approved the merger application set forth by Johnson City, Tenn.-based Mountain States Health Alliance and Kingsport, Tenn.-based Wellmont Health System.

6. Frazier Healthcare Partners to acquire majority interest in Matrix Medical: 3 things to know
Holding company Providence Service signed an agreement with an affiliate of Frazier Healthcare Partners, a private equity firm based in Seattle, by which Frazier will own a majority stake in Matrix Medical Network.

7. Cardinal Health purchases Iowa telepharmacy startup
Dublin, Ohio-based Cardinal Health bought Iowa City, Iowa-based TelePharm, a four-year-old startup working to establish telepharmacies in rural Iowa.

8. Walgreens, Prime Therapeutics strike partnership: 5 things to know
Walgreens is partnering with St. Paul, Minn.-based Prime Therapeutics, a pharmacy benefit manager owned by 14 Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plans.

9. Quest Diagnostics’ joint venture with Banner Health called Sonora Quest Laboratories is opening 6 new PSC’s in Arizona
Sonora Quest Laboratories, a joint venture between Banner Health in Phoenix and Quest Diagnostics, will open six new Sonora Quest Laboratories Patient Service Centers (PSCs) in Safeway stores throughout Arizona. 

10. Adena Health System, National Church Residences explore partnership options
Chillicothe, Ohio-based Adena Health System and Columbus, Ohio-based National Church Residences, a retirement community housing developer, are exploring additional partnership opportunities following the success of a joint pilot program.

11. Davis Health System, WVU Medicine team up to expand cancer, cardiac services
Elkins, W.Va.-based Davis Health System and Morgantown-based West VirginiaUniversityHospitals are partnering to establish a new heart and vascular institute within DHS's new outpatient center.

12. Geisinger, St. Luke's ink health plan agreement
Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System and Bethlehem, Pa.-based St. Luke's University Health Network signed a collaborative agreement to extend Geisinger health plans to nearly 50 Pennsylvania counties.

13. State approves merger of 2 Massachusetts hospitals
The Massachusetts public health council approved the merger of two hospitals within the Springfield, Mass.-based Baystate Health network.

14. Northwest Hospital adds Siloam Springs Regional Hospital to network
Springdale, Ark.-based Northwest Health System acquired Siloam Springs (Ark.) Regional Hospital. Siloam Springs will now be called NorthwestHospital.

15. CHI Franciscan Health, The Doctor's Clinic ink partnership agreement
Tacoma, Wash.-based CHI Franciscan Health and Silverdale, Wash.-based The Doctor's Clinic plan to affiliate to enhance patient access and efficiency for Washington state residents.

16. Rhode Island officials approve Westerly Hospital’s partnership with Yale-New Haven Health
State officials approved the sale of Westerly (R.I.) Hospital to Yale-New Haven (Conn.) Health Services, the parent company of YaleUniversity's Schools of Medicine and Nursing.

17. Mississippi Baptist, Baptist Memorial talk possible merger
Mississippi Baptist Health Systems in Jackson and Baptist Memorial Health Care in Memphis, Tenn., are exploring a possible collaboration.
