10 recent healthcare partnerships and transactions

The following healthcare mergers, acquisitions, partnerships and general transactions took place or were announced during the week of April 23.

1. Tenet acquires remaining stake in United Surgical Partners for $630M
Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare purchased the remaining 15 percent ownership in Addison, Texas-based United Surgical Partners International for $630 million, the 69-hospital system announced April 26.

2. University of Kansas Health System to acquire Great Bend Regional
Kansas City-based The University of Kansas Health System revealed April 25 the institution signed a letter of intent to purchase Great Bend (Kan.) Regional Hospital and its affiliated clinics.

3. Mass General, Eastern Maine Healthcare ink affiliation
Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and Eastern Maine Healthcare Systems in Brewer entered into a clinical affiliation, the organizations announced April 25.

4. ProMedica to acquire nursing home chain — creating $7B health network
Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica and Welltower, a healthcare-focused real estate investor, purchased Quality Care Properties, which is the soon-to-be owner of Toledo-based HCR ManorCare, the nation's second-largest nursing home chain, for $2.2 billion.

5. Adventist Health, St. Joseph Health to merge select Northern California facilities
Roseville, Calif.-based Adventist Health and Irvine, Calif.-based St. Joseph Health formed a joint operating company to integrate select facilities in Northern California, the organizations announced April 23.

6. Mount Sinai partners with LabCorp
New York City-based Mount Sinai Health System announced a partnership deal with LabCorp April 24 to optimize inpatient laboratory services across the health system.

7. 3 Native American tribes jointly seek control of South Dakota hospital
Three Native American tribes revealed plans to assume control of Sioux San Hospital, a nine-bed facility in Rapid City, S.D., from the U.S. Indian Health Service.

8. KentuckyOne to close sale on Jewish Hospital, assets 'within 1 month or less'
Private equity firm BlueMountain Capital Management will reportedly decide "within a month or less" whether it will assume control of several of Louisville-based KentuckyOne Health's assets.

9. Physician sets sights on building 25-bed microhospital in Florida community
A Florida physician is waiting to hear back from the state about his application to build a 25-bed microhospital near Ave Maria, Fla.

10. ProMedica eyes expansion into China
In an effort to offset weak revenue growth in the states, Toledo, Ohio-based ProMedica is looking to expand into China.
