Maryland's Bon Secours Health System Withdraws as Corporate Member of Altoona Regional

Marriottsville, Md.-based Bon Secours Health System has formally withdrawn as a corporate member of Altoona (Pa.) Regional Health System, according to a news release.

In addition, Bon Secours Ministries has withdrawn as canonical sponsor of Altoona Regional's Bon Secours-Holy Family Hospital (Bon Secours Hospital Campus) effective March 8.

These withdrawals precede the planned completion of the health systems' Facility and Service Enhancement Project at the end of the year. The project began in 2009 and aims to consolidate all Altoona Regional acute care at the Altoona Hospital Campus and all outpatient services at Altoona's Station Medical Center. The Bon Secours Hospital Campus will no longer provide healthcare services and will close.

Altoona Hospital merged with Bon Secours-Holy Family Regional Health System in 2004 to form Altoona Regional Health System.
