8. The hospital was founded in 1860 as House of Mercy Hospital. The hospital merged with Pittsfield General in 1968, and with St. Luke's Hospital in 1996, becoming Berkshire Medical Center.


9. Berkshire Medical Center is a teaching hospital affiliated with the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
