Bridgeport (Conn.) Hospital, part of the Yale New Haven (Conn.) Health system, created a new leadership role for physician wellness, according to the Connecticut Post

Kristin Edwards, MD, was named the hospital's first medical director of physician wellness on Sept. 9, according to the report. Dr. Edwards was chosen for the role for her work promoting well-being, which includes founding a subspecialty-specific group for physician well-being, according to Bridgeport Hospital interim CMO Ryan O'Connell, MD.

In this post, Dr. Edwards will be the liaison with health system leaders to help ensure medical staff members have the support they need. She will also continue to serve as medical director of palliative care, a role she has held since 2014, according to the report.
