Washington critical access hospital seeks to launch 12-physician residency

Emily Rappleye -

Pullman (Wash.) Regional Hospital needs voter approval for a $29 million bond to create a family medicine residency program for 12 physicians, The Spokesman-Review reports.

The residency is part of a $40 million improvement project that also includes an outpatient facility and EHR upgrades. The hospital would use its own funds and money from its foundation to fund the remaining $11 million, according to the report.

If voters approve the bond in November, Pullman Regional plans to launch the program in partnership with Washington State University's College of Medicine, based in Spokane. Pullman Regional would start the program in July 2022 with three residents, and it plans to eventually host up to 12 residents, according to the report.
