University of Kansas Cancer Center Merges with 11-Location Cancer Practice

The University of Kansas Cancer Center in Kansas City and Overland Park-based Kansas City Cancer Center have closed a merger to form what they say is one of the largest academic cancer treatment programs in the country, according to a Kansas City Star report.

The merger is considered an essential component of KU's application to become accredited by the National Cancer Institute. KCCC is the largest cancer practice in the metro area, with 11 clinic locations. The new merger expects to see 9,000-10,000 new patients each year.

All of KCCC's clinics will remain open under the original name, with KU Cancer Center appearing on signage. Financial details of the merger were not disclosed in the report.
