Many physicians have difficulty establishing quality interactions with the patients they treat, according to a new study from Geneia, a healthcare solutions company based in Harrisburg, Pa.
Approximately 400 physicians, clinicians and healthcare leaders across the country responded to the survey.
Here are four key findings from the survey.
1. Eighty-eight percent of physicians believe spending time developing an authentic engagement with patients is increasingly more difficult.
2. Approximately 81 percent of physicians say focusing on patient needs, treatments and methods is becoming more difficult.
3. The survey found 79 percent of physicians say it has become more challenging to develop intimate professional relationships with patients in their care.
4. Earlier this year, Geneia released the nationwide Physician Misery Index, which found 67 percent of physicians know a peer who is likely to stop practicing medicine within the next five years as a result of burnout.
