Albany, N.Y.-based St. Peter's Health Partners has partnered with Albany (N.Y.) Law School to help provide legal assistance to patients in need, according to a WAMC report.

The agreement, signed May 10 and effective immediately, provides free legal services to certain hospitalized patients who receive financial assistance or have Medicaid coverage, according to the report.

"This partnership will enlist the skills and talents of Albany Law School students, under the supervision of the school's outstanding faculty, to represent eligible St. Peter's Health Partners patients and their families," St. Peters Health Partners President and CEO Jim Reed, MD, said in a statement. "The program is specifically designed to help patients who have a need for legal services and who are receiving treatment for serious ailments, such as cancer, HIV/AIDS, or are in an intensive care unit, critical care unit or hospice."
