St. Jude Children's launches master's program

Alyssa Rege -

Health professionals looking to obtain advanced degrees in pediatric cancer will have the chance to enroll in a master's program at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., beginning in July, according to Fox 13 News.

Three things to know:

1. The online MS degree program in global child health will be jointly offered by St. Jude's Global Pediatric Medicine Department and its Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences. Students will spend the two-year program writing a master's thesis with a project proposal for a child health issue, which could receive funding from the hospital's global pediatric medicine department upon their graduation.

2. If accepted into the program, students will receive a scholarship covering the cost of the program, a laptop and travel expenses to visit the hospital campus in Memphis.

3. Dr. Shaloo Puri, assistant dean of the St. Jude Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, told Fox 13, "The idea of this program is to find those children who don't have access to the right kind of healthcare and create this group or workforce."
