Ohio Invests $1M to Convert 50 Practices to Patient-Centered Medical Homes

Ohio is investing $1 million to help train the providers of 50 physician practices on the patient-centered medical home model, according to a Columbus Dispatch report.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich's administration is funding the effort with money the state received from the federal government after enrolling children in its tax-funded Children's Health Insurance Program.

For a practice to participate in the PCMH training program, it needs at least 15 percent of patients to be Medicaid-eligible. Priority will be given to practices serving minorities and underserved areas.

There are already 104 medical practices in the state recognized as PCMHs by the National Committee for Quality Assurance.
