Officials unearthed a copper time capsule with surgical tools and photographs from 1906 at the site of the former Omaha, Neb.-based Methodist Midtown Hospital, according to Live Well Nebraska.

Construction crews uncovered the time capsule during the demolition of a Salvation Army center built on the site of the former hospital. The Salvation Army purchased the hospital's land for $1 in 1990, the report states.

Methodist officials opened the time capsule in front of some of the former hospital's physicians and staff. The box included various letters, newspaper articles dated May 1906 and surgical tools wrapped in gauze, according to the report.

Methodist officials said they plan to preserve and display the items, but are unsure how to do so, the report states.

Salvation Army officials said they plan to bury a new time capsule beneath a sign constructed from bricks salvaged from the former hospital. The contents will include recent letters, photos and one artifact from the 1906 time capsule.

The Salvation Army plans to open the new time capsule July 2, 2065.
