CVS Health is opening eight MinuteClinic locations in Maryland Target stores, bringing the state's total count of CVS retail medical clinics up to 43.
CVS will be converting existing Target clinics in stores in Annapolis, Baltimore (Canton neighborhood location), Bel Air, Cockeysville, Ellicott City, Nottingham, Silver Spring and Towson. The rebranded clinics will add new services to the Target clinics, including treatment for minor sprains and strains, contraceptive care and smoking cessation counseling, according to Andrew Sussman, MD, president of MinuteClinic, and executive vice president and associate CMO of CVS Health.
"The new MinuteClinic locations inside Target will offer the same scope of services available to patients at all our other clinics in Maryland and nationwide," Dr. Sussman said in a statement. These services, provided by nurse practitioners and physician assistants, include treatment for basic illnesses like strep throat; eye, ear, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections; nausea, vomiting diarrhea and indigestion. Providers are also able to help treat acne, rashes, skin conditions and administer vaccinations.
MinuteClinics offer walk-in appointments seven days a week and accept most major health insurance. CVS also posts its prices online for customers paying out-of-pocket.
CVS Health acquired all Target pharmacies and retail clinics in December. The Maryland rebranding is part of a series of conversions that will take place across the country over the next several months.
