Medical center merges with Centura Health Physician Group

Emily Rappleye -

The nine physician partners of Dodge City (Kan.) Medical Center voted unanimously to join Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health Physician Group.

The merger will help give DCMC access to specialists that would otherwise be difficult to recruit and open opportunities to participate in different models of healthcare delivery, such as coordinated care initiatives and telehealth services. Centura Health has a network of more than 6,000 physicians across Colorado and western Kansas.

"While rural healthcare providers face increasing challenges, this new relationship with DCMC better equips us to navigate the challenges ahead," Stephanie Waggoner, administrator of the Centura Health Physician Group in Kansas, said in a press release. "At the same time, DCMC will continue its legacy of providing high-quality healthcare."

Centura Health will benefit from expanding its network in Kansas. DCMC operates in Dodge City, Montezuma, Kan., and in several outreach clinics in southwest Kansas.

"We are all pleased to welcome the DCMC physicians, providers and associates to our Centura family," Ms. Waggoner said in the statement. "We are now partners in supporting health and wellness, and delivering optimal value to our neighbors in Ford County and the surrounding area."
