Independent Physicians in Florida Unite to Fight Acquisition Trend

A group of independent physicians and local businesses in and around Orlando, Fla., have joined together to form the Association of Independent Doctors, a trade association, according to an Orlando Sentinel report.

The mission of the new organization is to raise consumer, business and lawmaker awareness of the negative effects hospital acquisitions of physician practices can have on healthcare, according to the report.

Eighty physicians have already joined the group, according to the report. The group's first official meeting is tonight.
