Illinois' Midwest Heart Specialists to Merge With Advocate Medical Group

Midwest Heart Specialists in Oak Brook, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to integrate with Chicago-based Advocate Medical Group, according to a Chicago Tribune report.

MHS is Illinois' largest independent cardiology practice with more than 50 physicians while Advocate Medical Group, part of Advocate Health Care, is one of Illinois' largest medical groups. Advocate Medical Group is affiliated with more than 800 primary and specialty care physicians in 90 locations.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, and the transaction is expected to be finalized by the end of the year.
