HHS Grants $12M to Train Primary Care Providers

HHS announced today that it will provide $12 million in grants to support residency programs for primary care through the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Thirty-two teaching heath centers were awarded money, and the grants will fund more than 300 residents for the 2013-2014 academic year at those institutions.

Residents funded by the program will be trained in family and internal medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry and general and pediatric dentistry, according to the HHS news release.
