Georgia Hospitals Establish Consortium to Help Curb Physician Shortages

Five hospitals in southwest Georgia have established the South Georgia Medical Education and Research Consortium to expand medical education and residency programs, according to a news release.

Hospitals participating in the consortium include:

The consortium will begin its accreditation process this fall and hopes to add 150 residents in southwest Georgia. That's 10 times the amount of residents currently in that geographic region, according to a WALB report.
