The nonprofit Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston is teaming up with Franklin-Tenn.-based for-profit Capella Healthcare to form a new healthcare delivery network, according to Nashville Business Journal.

The new network, called Midlands Health ONE Network, is slated to launch early next year at Hartsville, S.C.-based Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center. The Hartsville hospital was acquired by Capella from Community Health Systems in October, according to the Nashville Business Journal.

"Our collaboration with MUSC Health will uniquely position Carolina Pines Regional Medical Center, and other area providers, to better serve their communities in this new era of health care," Michael Wiechart, president and CEO of Capella Healthcare, said in the report.

The Capella-MUSC partnership also includes a clinical affiliation agreement, which establishes a framework for medical students to get clinical experience.
