Baptist Health Paducah brings in police to simulate live shooter scenario

Leo Vartorella -

As mass shootings continue to plague the U.S., Baptist Health Paducah (Ky.) brought in police officers to simulate a live shooter situation Saturday, according to WPSD.

Retired police officer Darryl Carr, the hospital's security manager, said it is important for hospital staff and patients alike to know what to do in the event someone with a gun enters the hospital.

"Unfortunately we live in a violent world," Mr. Carr told WPSD. "It's our due diligence, in this position in our hospital, to train our employees on what to do in case this does happen. You know, run, hide and fight. When to run, when to hide, and when to actually engage the shooter if it comes to that."
