Aurora Launches Accountable Care Program for Wisconsin Employers

Staff -
Milwaukee-based Aurora Health Care is promising regional employers savings if they offer plans to employees that utilize only Aurora hospitals, physicians and services; another Wisconsin-based collaboration of health systems, Quality Health Solutions, is planning to do the same, according to a Milwaukee Journal Sentinel report.

Aurora's Accountable Care Network puts a cap on how much the plan's costs increase annually, which guarantees that an employer's cost will rise at a slower rate than the overall market, according to the report.

Employers who choose Aurora's ACO must have 250 or more employees enrolled and be primarily or completely self-funded. Aurora has had its accountable care network in place since last year. Additionally, Aurora has applied to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program and is awaiting CMS confirmation.

Quality Health Solutions plans to have pilot programs in place with regional employers later this year. Quality Health includes these health systems in Wisconsin and northern Illinois: the Medical College of Wisconsin and independent physicians; Agnesian Healthcare in Fond du Lac, Wis.; Aspirus in Wausau, Wis.; Bellin Health in Green Bay, Wis., and Centegra Health System in McHenry, Ill.
