For Jerry Pollard, it's never too late to pursue your dreams.

On May 10, the 84-year-old man graduated from Chicago-based Northeastern Illinois University with honors and a bachelor's degree in history, according to Fox 11. The journey to graduation was long-lived — Mr. Pollard took one class each semester over the course of 16 years.

"When I retired I had no hobbies," he said, according to the report. "I didn't know what I was going to do, so I thought, 'Well, I'll go back and get the education that I should've got 50 years earlier.'"

Mr. Pollard, who also recently attempted to climb Mount Everest but had to stop around 15,000 feet, has big plans for his future. He's considering attending medical school and has even enrolled in a class for next semester.
