Swedish Medical Center in Washington May Cut 300 Positions

Swedish Medical Center, based in Seattle, may cut 300 jobs, though some affected employees may be transferred to Swedish Medical Center's Issaquah campus, according to an Issaquah Press report.

The possible job cuts come as the hospital grapples a $19 million budget shortfall stemming from changing reimbursements and higher uninsured patient volumes. Swedish Medical Center officials said the job cuts would affect both union and nonunion jobs as well as vacancies, according to the report.
