WSJ: An executive's guide to navigating their role post-acquisition  

For executives of small hospitals acquired by larger systems or chains, navigating the dynamics of a new, much larger enterprise can be challenging.

Here are four quick tips from a column published in The Wall Street Journal based on interviews with executives who have been through it before:

  1. Connect with key players throughout the organization. Relationship-building is much more important in larger, bureaucratic environments where everyone may not know each other.
  2. Find ways to become known for expertise in unique areas.
  3. Make sure to have a full understanding of the acquiring organization's culture.
  4. Know what you want out of work, so you know what roles to go for within the larger enterprise.
