Vote on ACA replacement can wait till after 2020 election, Trump tweets

Republicans are developing a "really great" replacement for the ACA, President Donald Trump said, but a vote on that healthcare plan can wait until after the 2020 presidential election, CNBC reports.

In a series of tweets Monday night, President Trump said the healthcare plan "will be far less expensive & much more usable than ObamaCare. Vote will be taken right after the Election when Republicans hold the Senate & win back the House."

His comments suggest President Trump is willing to debate the healthcare plan during the 2020 election campaign, rather than trying to draft a proposal sooner.

Recently, President Trump has renewed his initial campaign promise to repeal and replace the ACA.

The president's remarks come just one week after the U.S. Justice Department said it supports a judge's ruling that the entire ACA should be invalidated. After the lawsuit was backed by the Justice Department, President Trump said the Republican Party would be known as "the party of healthcare."
