The 581-bed hospital was founded in 1818, and Augusta Mayor Hardie Davis proclaimed Jan. 18, 2018 University Hospital Day.
“There is an old proverb, that I will paraphrase, that says that society grows great when it plants trees whose shade they know they will never sit in,” said Laurie Ott, vice president of human resources and community services, and president of the University Healthcare Foundation, according to the Aiken Standard. “That is a legacy that will be left by our donors, volunteers and all the special people mentioned today.”
