UMass Memorial Health Care CEO Eric W. Dickson, MD, is all in on Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren's single-payer healthcare plan, "Medicare for All," according to the Telegram & Gazette.
The CEO of the Worcester, Mass.-based academic health system told the Telegram & Gazette in an interview that he thinks "it's a bold and courageous plan, and the best plan that any candidate has come out with to date."
In addition to providing universal access, Dr. Dickson said he believes Medicare for All will address healthcare cost issues by eliminating the administrative burden associated with coordinating the preauthorization and denials process across a multitude of payers. He outlined additional reasoning for his support in a letter to the Massachusetts senator.
Dr. Dickson also shared a few changes he would make to the plan, including preserving a role for Medicare Advantage and implementing the program on a 10-year timeline. Read the full story here.
