#Trumpcare was lawmakers' most-used hashtag in 2017: 5 things to know

Members of Congress used #trumpcare the most on social media in 2017, according to a social media analysis by Quorum.

Here are five things to know about congressional social media behavior this past year.

1. #Trumpcare was mentioned 11,900 times on Facebook and Twitter, followed by #aca (5,700 times) and #taxreform (5,500 times).

2. Republicans were more active on Instagram, averaging 49 posts per lawmaker on the platform, compared to Democrats, who posted roughly 47 posts per lawmaker.

3. However, Democrats were more active on Twitter and Facebook, with each Democrat averaging 844 tweets and 466 Facebook posts, compared to each Republican, who averaged 465 tweets and 395 Facebook posts.

4.The most viral tweet from a Republican in 2017 was Sen. Bob Corker's, Tenn., Oct. 8 post, which received more than 148,000 retweets. Mr. Corker wrote, "It's a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning."

5. Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., holds the most viral tweet on the political left. On Jan. 21, he uploaded a photo from the Washington, D.C., Women's March and wrote, "President Trump, you made a big mistake. By trying to divide us up by race, religion, gender and nationality you actually brought us closer." It has received more than 452,000 retweets.
