Trump signs spending bills that scrap ACA taxes

President Donald Trump on Dec. 20 signed a nearly $1.4 trillion spending package, which repeals three ACA taxes, according to CNBC.

The bills, which are considered a win for health insurance companies and medical device makers, repeal the ACA's health insurer tax, medical device tax and Cadillac tax, a 40 percent excise tax on high-cost employer-provided insurance plans.

The bills, which fund the federal government through the end of fiscal year 2020, also delay payment cuts to disproportionate share hospitals, fund gun violence research and raise the minimum age to purchase, cigarettes, e-cigarettes and other tobacco products to 21 years.
