What is the Healthiest County in Each of the 50 States?

The newly released County Health Rankings were produced through a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute. They determine health based on 29 outcomes and factors, including smoking, obesity, excessive drinking, high school graduation rates, violent crime, unemployment, housing problems and more.

Counties are ranked relative to the health of other counties in the same state. Any entity with its own Federal Information Processing Standard county code was included in the rankings.

The following counties, along with Washington, D.C., secured the No. 1 rankings in their respective states for the analyzed health factors and outcomes.
