Solis Mammography's growth plans in 2019: Boosting the patient experience

Solis Mammography is the nation’s largest independent breast screening and diagnostic services provider, with more than 62 locations across Texas, Arizona, Ohio, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia. Over its 30-year history, clinical care providers at Solis centers have performed more than 5 million procedures.

Solis Mammography centers operate as freestanding locations or as integrated facilities located inside major hospital systems, powered through joint venture partners including HCA Healthcare, University of Chicago Medicine, Einstein Health Network and Community Health Systems.

The company was both an early pioneer of 3D mammography and a key player in the design, development, research and market launch of SmartCurve, a curved mammography technology has been clinically proven to be 93% more comfortable for women who have experienced painful mammograms in the past. The company touts a net promoter score of over 91 percent, and 89 percent of all Solis patients report little or no discomfort with their mammograms.

“We recognize and meet the needs of the sophisticated 21st century healthcare patient who favors a convenient, mobile-first scheduling experience, high-touch in-office interactions, care delivered by foremost industry experts, and accurate expedited email results above industry-standards,” says James Polfreman, CEO of Solis Mammography.

Mr. Polfreman says the secret to success is understanding and resolving patients’ common barriers to accessing breast health care, including discomfort during the exam, anxiety around waiting for results, ease of scheduling and access to convenient locations. The company has engineered a patient care experience to deliver top-quality care, increased accuracy and decreased callback rates, all while pioneering clinical technological advancements and providing research-based innovation and knowledge to both patients and clinicians.

“Our patient-centric model provides a continuum of care that is suited to the needs of our patients, referring physicians and joint venture partners,” says Michael Bennett, Chief Development Officer. “We have a singular expert focus on breast imaging and on engaging the female consumer through a high-touch, high-tech experience designed to improve patient satisfaction and compliance with annual exams.”

Solis Mammography's in-office experience is designed to induce calm and reduce anxiety. Soothing colors, inspirational quotes and easy listening music flow throughout each facility, and dressing room lockers feature the names of inspiring female historical figures.

Solis Mammography has some of the lowest callback rates at 9 percent versus the 12 percent industry average. The centers use 3D technology with SmartCurve, and all center team members, including radiologists, are sub-specialized mammography experts. Patients receive results via email within 24-48 hours.

“In partnership with hospitals across the country our retail service model delivers expert care and an elevated patient experience. The net result of delivering on these core promises is increased consumer engagement, incremental patient volume and heightened financial performance for the hospitals,” says Mr. Bennett.

Solis Mammography is partnering with HCA Healthcare this year to expand into Colorado and Tennessee.

The company will also roll out a new website with enhancements for better patient experience, resources for referring physicians and an educational woman's health platform. Visit www.solismammo.com to learn more.
